Bicycle Sounds
Bicycle Sounds from Stephen Meierding on Vimeo.
All of us when we were kids we put a playing card in the spokes of the bicycle to simulate the sound of a motorcycle.
This video, entitled "Bicycle sounds" is a grown-up version of that pastime: the photographer and video-maker Stephen Meierding built a small jewel of sound design. The director won an award from the 2012 edition of the "Bike Short Film Festival" this past spring in New York

Numbrella for city bike only!
This umbrella is very curious!
Those who use the bicycle in the city I think will find it useful.
Surely the riders are not afraid of the rain but if you want to go deeper on the site Numbrella

Innovation Award 2012
Alchemist distinguished itself during the official contest "Innovation
Award" of ExpoBici 2012 thanks to its "level of innovation" in the
category Components and accessories with 29'' FRONT WHEEL LEFTY FOR
TUBULAR.
The jury, composed of leading experts, selected the winning products in each category starting from a shortlist of more than 60 products in the competition all characterized from high technological and scientific value. The verdict of the jury is available at this link.
The jury surely appreciated and wanted to enhance the handcrafted production system high-tech of Alchemist's Wheel which involves the use a high pressure mould with IMPACT-PROOF resin, which contains plastic polymers that increase the absorption of impact stress.
MTB and Cross Country's experts had noticed that Professionals with the Alchemist wheel can count on important innovations that will help their ventures. The wheel in fact has a nipless area that is strengthened by increasing resistance. The holes are tilted by ± 5° to avoid the spokes bending and to increase torsion rigidity. Holes are tilted in respect to the wheel axis to compensate wheel camber differences due to disc brakes. Only due caution: Should it have a rear mounting, wheel camber compensation should be assembled on the side of the disc brake to compensate the free wheel.
Regarding the response of the official competition of ExpoBici, Sandro Marcorin, creator and founder of Alchemist, pointed out that "The recognition honors us and for a reality that faces the market is even more significant. Our mission is to innovate and be emerged thanks to this feature is a confirmation that we got off on the right foot and at the same time encourages us to continue with the search. In this regard during the fair we will present a new component which I still can not talk about because we are filing the patent. So I invite you to visit our stand. "
Alchemist awaits you in Padova Fiera from 22 to 24 September 2012 in stand H302 hall 5.

Invisible bicycle helmet
Wearing a bicycle helmet is not compulsory in all countries of the world, but it is an important life–saving device although uncomfortable and unsightly. Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, two Design students, have taken up the challenge and managed to patent the first invisible helmet. In fact,it is worn like a hood and works like an airbag. With this product, the impossible becomes possible, the invisible becomes design, when security meets fashion and walks down the catwalk of the Hövding World Premiere Fashion Show!

The first flying bicycle
“Imagine people being able to fly as easily as we ride a bike… think about the benefits along the frontiers without the need to build roads.” This is the fanta-technological imaginary that has brought a Californian company to create Aerofex.
The hoverbike is driven by two huge fans which allow it to rise up to 5 meters from the ground and to travel at 48 km/h. Its prohibitive cost and size make it unthinkable to be used in the city but it is a perfect for example for doctors who need to travel in the desert.

The Beer Wrench: a good idea for a city bike
The bottle-opener/wrench is the ideal tool for self-gratification after a job well done or a long bike ride. This equipment with minimal design, launched by the Budnitz Bicycles website, weighs just 35 grams and is made of titanium in accordance with the dictates of the aerospace industry. It should be positioned on the back mudguard by means of two manually screwed pins. The key is compatible with the most common 15mm bolts.
Needless to say, the bottle-opener is compatible with the most common crown caps used with bottled beer!

Low cost Design: the cheap and ecological cardboard bicycle
The cardboard bicycle would not cost the environment a penny as it is entirely recycled; the manufacturer would need just 9 dollars whilst the purchaser would have to fork out 60 (this is a project looking for financial backers).
The businessperson has done his sums well with his target and with the problem of a large metropolis: bicycle thieves. His intention is to fight the problem from its origin: why steal a bike that is worth nothing!
The inventor, Izhar Gafni, is a former soldier and as a good strategist, has thought of everything: the bicycle is light, resistant (it can carry up to 140kg) and enamelled in order to make it resistant to water and humidity. Its vintage design is what gives it the edge, increasing its intrinsic value and appealing to taste. It has already become a cult object as to flaunt it would be really cool and would have us believe that once on the market it really will be a steal!

Abandoned Bike Project
Bicycle skeletons evoke stories in a WNYC art display
Of the hundreds of bikes locked and languishing on New York City blocks, several have been liberated and donated by the Department of Sanitation and the youth service charity Recycle-A-Bicycle and are now on display in the windows of the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC/WQXR in downtown Manhattan. The humble but enchanting exhibit—curated by Transportation Nation, a reporting project of WNYC—also includes a slideshow of photos of abandoned bicycles submitted by listeners.
